Exercising For Two

So a week ago today,  I found out I was pregnant with our third child (second biological).

*RECORD SCRATCH*

Yup!  My hunt for six pack abs has ended abruptly...for now.  The chase for a healthy, pregnant body continues.  I am battling a whole host of issues from a previous pregnancy.  I'm trying to do yoga to help my hips accomodate the baby better, and help with Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (very painful condition, where your pelvis basic splits open).  I had pregnancy induced hypertension last baby because I indulged in all my little cravings, didn't exercise and didn't drink enough water.

This time I want to be smarter.  I want to enjoy this pregnancy and my body, and not feel guilty about getting "fat."

YES, ladies you can lose weight while pregnant if you are overweight via healthy eating and exercise.  My pediatrician told me when I was pregnant with our now youngest.  I was in too much pain to proceed, but I'd done a lot of damage to myself.

I'm already slated to eat about 2,037 calories and that is to lose weight.  Trust me, baby will get plenty.
It's actually a fight for my life and the baby's because hypertension is no joke and there's up to an 80% chance it will come back.  I know I can be wiser.  I will indulge ever so often, sure.  I will listen to my body.  But I am not screwing around this time.  I can't.

So follow me on this journey if you're pregnant, want to get pregnant, or just want to see what happens!

Woman Eating Herself To An Early Death to Reach Goal Weight of 1,000 Pounds!

You know, I completely understand not wanting to work out.  It's time consuming, and it can hurt sometimes, but damn doesn't it feel good when those jeans fit or your body feels like a million bucks because you nourished it.

Food is supposed to nourish you, not fill you up likea balloon.  The fact that this woman above believes that is healthy, though she can't even get up to walk without getting winded is proof that there's some serious denial going down with her.  *SMDH*

'My favourite food is sushi, but unlike others I can sit and eat 70 big pieces of sushi in one go,' she said.
'I do love cakes and sweet things, doughnuts are my favourite.'
Donna, who wears XXXXXXXL dresses, eats mounds of junk food and tries to move as little as possible.
Ms Simpson already holds the Guinness World Record as the world's fattest mother, when she gave birth in 2007 weighing 38stone.
She needed a team of 30 medics to deliver her daughter Jacqueline during a high-risk Caesarean birth.
Yet although she can only move 20ft before needing to sit down, she wants to be even bigger.
'I'd love to be 1,000lb,' she said.
It might be hard though. Running after my daughter keeps my weight down.'

If you read the article, you can see that she actually needs counseling and this wanting to hit 1,000 pounds is actually a cry for help.  It's sad that the person who supposedly loves her does not recognize this.

To make matters worse, her little girl will undoubtedly be left an orphan because of this selfish woman.  Nothing in there is about her daughter.  She does this because it makes her happy, not her daughter.  Isn't this neglect?

Weight Loss: Ur Doin' It Rong!

I'm a lolcats fan so I intentionally put the header as lolcat vernacular.

Anyway!  So, guess what?  I was kinda doing this whole weight loss thing wrong.  How the hell was I going to catch up with my six pack if I'm starving my body, thereby forcing it to not do jack squat but hold on to the fat and not create muscle in mass gains?

I dunno.

On Friday, we met with a bodybuilder that I admired secretly, even if I thought she made fun of me (whatevs) story of my fucking life.  I honestly don't care.

So when she approached hubby and me and asked us what we were doing (smith machine curl and throw) the enlightenment began.  She is seriously awesome.  She is a natural bodybuilder and has been so for over 20 years.  She actually has someone who works out with her who lost 40 lbs. in 8 months.

HELL YEAH!

I found out I was eating as if I were a rabbit.  As women we instantly assume that we should drop calories dramatically and hit cardio like bats out of hell (the cardio thing I realized was wrong years ago, but the dropping calories I wasn't educated enough on).  I know it depends on height and body, but at 5' 9.5", I'm a  bit of a giant and as such I can eat a hell of a lot more.

Let me be frank, my weight is 196 lbs. as we speak.  On Monday it was about 200 lbs.  I drop weight fast I am not the norm.  Yes, I am hydrated.  Super hydrated.  With that said, ever since she hit us up, and schooled us on proper nutrition (actually feeding the machine) and telling us to focus more on our workouts, our bodies have kicked back into gear to get it cracking.

My first day actually eating feeding my machine, I was so tired of eating.  My body was like, "What are you DOING?  We never eat this much.  NEVER!"  But I trusted her because obviously she's been doing it right (her body is super tight and ripped).  By yesterday, I had lost two pounds.  By today, I've lost another two.

I won't recreate her workout here because she asked me questions that were specific to my lifestyle and goals to create a bodybuilding program.  The "feeding of the machine" I can get into with you.

Track your eating for a whole day on NutritionData.com or Sparkpeople.com.  INPUT EVERYTHING (unless it's seriously negligible).  Then figure out your macronutrients and see where you are deficient.  NOt only was I eating little, the little I did eat was carbs (complex carbs like Ezekiel bread and brown rice but still) and little protein.

PROTEIN IS THE BUILDING BLOCK OF LIFE!!!  You need it!  We were lifting heavy at the gym and we were not giving our bodies protein to build those muscles.  AAARGH!!

So she upped my protein such that my day consists of protein at EVERY MEAL.  Now I eat 8 meals a day and I gotta tell you, I have never been so satisfied in my life.  I feel good, I feel replenished.  I can get through my workouts, and my body feels like it's healing after weights.

Here's for progress!

There's still time in the race.  Let's get it!

What Our Scrambled Eggs Look Like!

My scrambled eggs probably have more veggies than they have actual eggs.   At least that's what it seems like to me.  Here we have at least a cup of red and green peppers, onions, and of course seasonings like black pepper and garlic salt.  This is mostly egg whites, with very few whole eggs.

I usually have my veggies pre-chopped and just measure and add to my eggs and scramble.  They are very filling!

Photos: Turkey Philly (Cheesesteak) Sandwiches!

So here are the end results!  The recipe calls for those big sandwich rolls, but I find that these Orowheat Wheat Thins (at 100 calories a pop) are even more effective!  We also used 2% Milk Provolone cheese.

Pair one sandwich (or one and a half sandwiches) with a small salad and you'll be good to go.  These are MOST satisfying.  Don't forget to add water as a beverage.

You can also add sliced mushrooms to the pan with the onion and bell pepper. Serve with dill pickles and chips.

Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 1 sandwich)

Ingredients

2 teaspoons butter

1 cup thinly sliced onion

1 cup thinly sliced green bell pepper

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

3/4 pound thinly sliced deli turkey breast

4 (2-ounce) sandwich rolls

4 (1-ounce) slices low-sodium mozzarella or provolone cheese

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°.

Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and bell pepper; sauté 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in black pepper.

Divide onion mixture and turkey evenly among bottom halves of rolls; top each serving with 1 cheese slice. Cover with top halves of rolls.

Place sandwiches on a baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
